Fairfax County Chapter ● Vienna, Virginia

Welcome to the Fairfax County Chapter

National Society Daughters of the American Revolution

Your first step toward membership requires establishing your lineage. There are many tools to help you accomplish this. There is a logical step-by-step process for establishing your lineage, which will begin with a pedigree chart.

Identify the time period and categories of acceptable service. Your patriot did not necessarily have to fight. He/She could have provided civil or patriotic service. Next, the DAR Patriot Index Lookup Service will search the database of previously submitted ancestors. If your ancestor isn’t listed in the Index you will want to check records in the state in which your ancestor lived. NSDAR’s publication, Is That Service Right? lists well-documented sources for each of the original thirteen states. The DAR Library has many of these sources. Finally, our chapter’s Registrar can assist you throughout the application and research process.

NSDAR’s Membership page outlines the steps to becoming a member, as well as helpful links to assist you in verifying sources.

Please send us an email if you think you have a Revolutionary Patriot ancestor and are interested in joining our chapter.

You do not need to complete an application worksheet before attending a chapter meeting. You do not even need to have identified your Patriot Ancestor. By attending one of our chapter meetings, you will meet DAR members who have the experience to assist you in obtaining your goal of DAR membership.

Please send us an email if you would like to attend one of our monthly chapter meetings.

Membership

Do you have a Revolutionary Patriot in your family tree? Membership in the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) honors and preserves the legacy of your Patriot ancestor. Over two hundred years ago, American Patriots fought and sacrificed for the freedoms we enjoy today. As a member of DAR, through participation in the Society’s various programs and activities, you can continue this legacy by actively supporting historic preservation, promotion of education, and patriotic endeavors.
